Sunny Ridge Family Center is licensed as a child welfare agency by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services (#019976), and by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Division of Family and Children, as a child placing agency.

What is this?

Children in Need of a Family

Open your heart and your home to a child from Guatemala. Infant to toddler boys and girls in need of a family; boy referrals come very quickly as many boys are in need of placement.

Travel

Short trip of three to four days. Escort available.

Benefits & Issues to Consider

Short travel trip. Children reside in private foster homes prior to adoption. Good local support network. Cost is somewhat more expensive then other programs.

Eligibility

Married couples, and single females, between the ages of 25 and 50, may apply for the adoption of a child from Guatemala. There is no length of marriage requirement, and clients with previous marriages are accepted. Families with biological or adopted children may also apply.

Medical Information

Fairly reliable medical reporting. Many children have been placed in foster homes. Information on birth mothers occasionally available.

Appx. $34,000

Time frame

Adopting a child from Guatemala usually takes Average of 12 months; tends to be shorter for boys.
