How Long and How Much?
Two of the most frequent questions asked about adoption are "How long?" and "How much?" These are two important questions when a family is considering an adoption.
How long. Once your dossier is mailed to China, we can get an estimate of when your adoption will be completed. The current estimated time period, from the time your dossier is mailed to the time your referral arrives, is more than 24 months, but it is anticipated that wait times will gradually lengthen and could reach three to four years.
How much. Your fees include agency fees, in-state fees, and in-China fees and services. While the cost of adoption can be significant, Sunny Ridge remains committed to providing families with excellent service while maintaining a cost-effective way for you to grow your family. The fees below reflect costs for Illinois and Indiana families. For out-of-state families, contact our office for a current fee schedule. Our current China adoption fee structure is as follows:

*Note: All fees are subject to change. This cost does not include your immigration filing fees and travel. Immigration filing fee is $670 plus $80 for every adult in your home. You can estimate cost for air, hotel, for a 14-day trip to be about $6,000 per couple. This amount will vary, depending on seasonal events and major holidays. Credit cards can be used for travel expenses.
Conclusion. The next step for you may be to attend one of our upcoming International Adoption Information Meetings, held the last Tuesday of each month at Sunny Ridge Family Center. Although these meetings are free, we do ask you to register and that children do not attend the meeting with you.
