Fashion Show Benefit
Join us for this year's Fashion Show Benefit, Spring Is In The Air, taking place on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn. Doors open at 10:30am. Join Sunny Ridge as we welcome special guest Amy Freeze from FOX Chicago. The Benefit includes shopping, silent auction, lunch, and a fabulous spring fashion show. Moms, daughters, sisters, grandparents, extended family— this is a wonderful way to support Sunny Ridge and share a fun day together.

WISE Up Post Adoption Workshop
Sunny Ridge is pleased to offer the WISE UP! workshop for adoptive families on Saturday, March 6, 2010. This unique program was developed by the Center for Adoption Support and Education. WISE UP provides a simple but powerful way for adopted children (and families) to handle comments and personal questions about their adoption story. This particular workshop offers practical tools for adopted children between the ages of 6 and 11 adopted both internationally and domestically.

Haiti: Children & Adoptions
No doubt your heart has gone out to the people of Haiti, particularly the children, devastated by the earthquake last month. Sunny Ridge has received inquiries from families regarding the possibility of Haiti adoptions. As humanitarian aid continues, the focus at this time is on life-saving and survival efforts. Following this every effort will be made to reunite children with birth-family members. Joint Council on International Children’s Services (JCICS) and the Department of State have both issued statements regarding Haiti adoptions in relation to the earthquake. It will be some time before there is a clear understanding as to the number of children truly orphaned by the earthquake, and the role that intercountry adoption agencies can play in meeting future needs. For families who wish to help children in Haiti, we encourage donations to aid organizations such as the Red Cross.
